On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will occur in Montpelier, Vermont. Montpelier, the state capital of Vermont, is located rather close to the eastern edge of the eclipse path and will experience relatively short totality durations as compared to locations farther inside the path. Downtown Montpelier will get about 1 minute and 35 seconds of totality. For Montpelierites who wish to escape their city and seek out longer totality durations on eclipse day, Interstate 89 heads west to Burlington and then north to the maximum durations on the eclipse centerline.
