(This is an archived page about the annular solar eclipse that occurred on October 14, 2023. For information on future eclipses, please see our Upcoming Eclipse Maps page.)
On October 14, 2023, an annular, or "ring of fire," solar eclipse will occur in Eugene, Oregon. Eugene is located almost halfway between the centerline and the eastern limit of the eclipse path. In the downtown Eugene area, annularity will last for about 3 minutes and 55 seconds. Interstate 5 runs directly through the city of Eugene, providing an easy driving route south for eclipse chasers looking for even longer durations near the eclipse centerline. Since I-5 arrives in Eugene from the north, residents should be ready for a possible influx of eclipse tourists from Portland and Salem on October 14.
