On October 2, 2024, an annular, or "ring of fire," solar eclipse occurred in South America. The path of annularity crossed over Chile and Argentina. The path also crossed over Easter Island (Chile). In the U.S., a partial solar eclipse occurred in Hawaii. The maximum duration of annularity for this eclipse was 7 minutes and 25 seconds.
