Eclipse Maps

On May 21, 2031, an annular, or "ring of fire," solar eclipse will occur in Africa and Asia. In Africa, the path of annularity will cross over Angola, Namibia, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and Malawi. In Asia, the path of annularity will cross over India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The maximum duration of annularity for this eclipse will be 5 minutes and 26 seconds. The maps below show the path of annularity over Africa and Asia. To experience the annular, or "ring of fire," phase of the eclipse, you must be located within the path of annularity represented on the maps below. Areas outside the path of annularity will get a partial solar eclipse only.
