On February 26, 2017, an annular, or "ring of fire," solar eclipse occurred in South America and Africa. In South America, the path of annularity crossed over Chile and Argentina. In Africa, the path of annularity crossed over Angola, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The maximum duration of annularity for this eclipse was 44 seconds.
